Shree Balajee Bhojanalaya

Our place is right on Grand Road in Puri, very close to the Shree Chaitany Gaudiya Matha. If you’ve visited Puri for the temple, you’ve probably walked right past us. It’s a very busy street, especially during festivals or on weekends when the pilgrims arrive in large numbers. We started Shree Balajee Bhojanalaya to give people a place to get a simple, honest meal near the main temple area. We don’t use onion or garlic in a lot of our cooking because that’s what many of our visitors prefer. The restaurant isn't very large, and it can get quite hot in the summer, but we have fans going all the time. We aren't looking to become a big chain or anything. We just like being part of the life here on Grand Road. You’ll see people from all over India sitting at our tables. It’s a bit of a mix of languages and cultures every day. The staff is used to the fast pace, and they don't spend much time talking. They just focus on getting the food out to the tables while it’s fresh. We buy our vegetables from the local market every morning to make sure everything is okay. It’s a plain, hardworking business. We don't have a fancy website or social media. We just rely on people seeing our sign and coming in when they’re hungry after a long day at the temple.
