Parijat Restaurants

Parijat Restaurants is part of the Basu Hotel on Sea Beach Road in Puri. You can hear the ocean from here if the traffic isn't too loud. Being near the beach means we get a lot of tourists and pilgrims who have come to see the temple. The air is always a bit salty, which messes with the metal chairs after a while. We’ve had to replace them a few times. The restaurant isn't very fancy. We have some overhead fans and large windows to let in the breeze. Most days, we’re busy from early morning until late at night. We serve the kind of food people look for when they're away from home—simple rice, dal, and vegetable dishes. We don't have a head chef with a tall hat. Just a few local guys who know their way around a stove. The kitchen can get quite chaotic when a large group comes in all at once. We just do our best to get the orders out. Sometimes the orders get mixed up or the tea is a bit too sweet, but we try to fix it quickly. We're just here on the Sea Beach Road, trying to provide a decent meal for anyone who walks in. It’s a busy life, especially during the festival seasons, but we've gotten used to the pace of Puri. We don't use a lot of fancy technology here. We just write the orders on a pad and hand them to the kitchen. It's how we do things, and we hope you enjoy your time here.
