Mamuni Restaurant

Harihara Square is always moving. We are right in front of the Seabeach Thana. You can hear the sirens sometimes, but mostly it’s just the sound of the ocean nearby. The air in Puri is always thick with salt. It makes everything rust faster, so we are always painting the chairs or the door frames. We get a lot of pilgrims who have just finished their prayers. They come in with sand on their feet and wet clothes. We don't mind. We just keep the mop ready in the corner. The restaurant isn't very big. We have a few tables near the window so people can watch the street. It’s a simple setup. We don't have a computer for bills. We just write it down on a pad with a pencil. The kitchen is right at the back. It gets very hot, so the cooks are always drinking tea or water. We buy fish fresh from the boats every single morning. You can’t get it any fresher than that. Sometimes we run out of things early if the crowd is big. We don't have a website or any ads. People just walk in because they see the name. It’s a busy corner in 752001. When the sun goes down, the lights of the square come on and we serve the last few customers. It’s a good spot to sit and see the whole world go by on the way to the water.
