Shreelakshmi Farmer Producer Company Limited is based right here in Kampil, near the Laxmi Narayan School on Ganga Road. We started this because doing everything on your own as a farmer in Baarah Patthar is getting harder every year. The costs keep going up and sometimes it feels like nobody is listening to the small guy. Our group is just local people from Ward No. 3 and the surrounding spots. We spend most of our days out in the dirt, so when we get together, we’re usually tired but we still have plenty to discuss. It’s not about being a big business or anything like that. We just want to make sure our families can eat and we can keep our land. Most of us know each other from the village or from when we were kids going to school nearby. We talk about what fertilizer is working or how the rain is looking for the next month. Sometimes we meet up near the school to figure out transport for the harvest. It’s all very practical stuff. We don't use any fancy talk or have big meetings with suits. It’s just us, the farmers, trying to get a better handle on the buying and selling part of the job. If you walk down Ganga Road, you'll see us around. We’re just trying to make the farming life a bit more stable for everyone involved in our little group without any fuss.
