Sarottar Farmers Producer Company Limited is located in the village of Sarotar. We are tucked away in the Tola-Sarotar area, which falls under the Sarotarwest panchayat in the Kesaria block. It’s a bit of a drive to get here from the main town in Purbi Champaran, but we like it that way. Our office is right where the houses start to thin out and the fields begin. It’s a very simple place with a dirt yard where we park the tractors. We don't have any polished floors or air conditioning; we just open the windows and hope for a breeze. Most of the people involved are local farmers who have been tilling this land for generations. We handle the usual stuff like wheat and rice, and whatever else people are planting this season. Sometimes the paperwork gets backed up because we’d rather be outside than sitting at a desk. We’re not trying to be a big corporate entity. We are just a group of neighbors trying to coordinate our harvests better. The village is small, so news travels fast, and everyone knows what we’re doing. It’s a lot of physical labor and long hours during the harvest, but it’s what we know. We don't have any big secrets or complex systems. We just try to help each other get through the year without losing too much money. It’s just us, doing what we’ve always done.
