Our setup is in Kothiahariram village, specifically in the Kankatti tola. Being part of the Mehsi block in Motihari means most people here have something to do with the water. Hareram Fish Farmers Producer Company Limited focuses on fish farming. It’s different from regular crop farming because you’re always worried about the ponds and the oxygen levels. We started this to help the fish farmers in this patch of Motihari get a better handle on things. The village is quiet, and we work out of a local spot in Danpatirai. You won't find any big city lights here. Just ponds and dirt roads. We spend the morning checking on the stock. If the water isn't right, the whole day is spent fixing it. It’s messy work. Your clothes usually smell like the pond by noon. It's not for everyone but it is what we do. We aren't trying to be some huge brand. We just want the local catch to be good and the farmers to get their fair share. Dealing with the markets in the city is a headache, so we try to handle that as a group. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to scramble. That’s just life in the village. We have a small office where we do the paperwork and drink some chai. People from the panchayat drop by often. It’s a very local thing we have going on here in Mehsi.
