Our place is Room No. 1, SQ Unit No. 5, right on the Aarey Milk Colony Road in Jogeshwari East. If you know Mumbai, you know Aarey is one of those spots where you actually see some trees. It’s where we do all our dairy work. The mornings start really early, usually before the sun is even up, because the cows don’t wait for anyone. It can get pretty loud with the cans clinking and the animals moving around. The road outside gets busy with people heading to the station, but back here in the unit, it’s just the usual routine. We don't have a big fancy office or anything like that. It’s just a practical space where we keep the records and manage the milking. Sometimes the monsoon makes things a bit messy, but we just put on our boots and get on with it. It’s hard work and your hands get dirty, but that’s just how it is. We’ve been here for a while now and we know the rhythms of the colony. We aren't trying to be some huge corporation. We just focus on the animals and making sure things are done properly every day. It’s just a few of us here, and we mostly just talk about the weather and the feed. It's a simple life, but it keeps us busy from dawn till dusk.
