Omkareshwar Organic Agro Farmers Producer Company Limited is located in Nirgudsar, which is part of the Ambegaon taluka in Pune. We are based at Medge Jivram Umaji’s place in Megandewadi. This area is known for its soil and the way things grow here. We focus on organic methods because that is what we know. It is a lot more work than people think. You have to watch the plants closely and handle pests without the heavy chemicals. We started this company to help group our harvests together. There are a few of us who run the daily operations from the small office space we have. It’s mostly filled with bags of seeds and ledgers. We don't have any fancy marketing people or big logos on the walls. It is just a group of local farmers trying to make a living. We talk to each other every day about the soil and the water levels. The work changes with the seasons so we are always busy with something new. In the summer it’s one thing and when the monsoons hit it’s another. We just take it day by day and try to make sure the crops are healthy. People from around Nirgudsar come by to see how we are doing things. We just tell them it’s about patience and hard work on the land we have. It is not always easy but we stay here and keep the farming tradition going for our families.
