Virendra General Stores

Virendra General Stores is located right on Karve Road, near the Deccan area. If you’ve been around number 31 23, you’ve probably walked past us a hundred times. We sell the usual things people need every day. Milk, bread, snacks, and household items like soap and detergent. The shop is packed from floor to ceiling. I know exactly where the lentils are and which shelf has the biscuits, but to a stranger, it probably looks like a bit of a mess. I’ve been behind this counter since I was a young man. The street outside has changed so much. It used to be quieter, with more trees and fewer cars. Now it’s a constant stream of traffic and horns. But inside the store, things feel pretty much the same. We have regular customers who have been coming here for twenty years. We know their names and what they usually buy before they even ask for it. Sometimes kids come in with a few coins for candy, and it reminds me of when I was their age. It’s a lot of work, staying open late and making sure the stock is fresh. My son helps out now, which is good because my back isn't what it used to be. We just keep the doors open and try to be helpful to whoever walks in from the street.
