If you drive down the Panchgani Mahabalashwar Road, you’ll eventually pass by us near Bhose. We are right there by Post Box No.73. The air is different up here than it is in the city. It’s cooler and you can smell the trees. We’ve been operating out of Panchagani for a long time. It’s a lot of manual work, moving crates of fruit and checking the batches. The road outside gets really busy during the tourist season, so sometimes it takes forever just to get a truck out of the driveway. We mostly wear sweaters because it gets chilly in the mornings. There’s no big lobby or anything like that here. Just a functional space where we handle the produce. Some of the equipment is old, but it still works fine if you know how to talk to it. We take breaks when we can and look out at the hills. It’s a quiet life mostly, aside from the sound of the machines and the occasional horn honking on the main road. We don’t have any big meetings or long speeches. We just check the fruit, process it, and get the jars ready for shipping. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy enough. The rain here can be quite something during the monsoon, sometimes we have to stop everything just to make sure the roof isn't leaking. It is just how we do things.
