We are tucked away in Lane No.3 of Dahanukar Colony in Kothrud. Hardikar'S Fruit Processing Pvt. Ltd. operates out of number 13, Himalaya Appartment. It’s a bit unusual to have a processing business in an apartment building, but that’s how we’ve always done it. Kothrud is a nice area, very green and mostly quiet compared to the rest of the city. We spend our days dealing with various fruits, depending on the season. When it’s mango season, the whole place smells amazing. It’s a lot of manual work—sorting, cleaning, and prepping the fruit for processing. Our kitchen and work areas are always busy. Because we are in a colony, we have to be mindful of our neighbors and keep things tidy. We don't have a huge staff, just a handful of dedicated people who know their way around a crate of fruit. Sometimes the deliveries arrive early in the morning and we have to get moving before the sun is even up. The office part is just a small desk in the corner where we keep the records and take orders. Most of our conversations are about the quality of the latest batch or the price of sugar. It’s a very practical, hands-on kind of business. We’ve been in Dahanukar Colony for a long time and the locals know us by the smell of boiling fruit. It’s a good, honest way to make a living without all the corporate noise.
