The workshop is at J-206 in the MIDC area on Urava Street, Saiyedpur. At Unitech Engineering, we mostly deal with metal and machines that make a lot of noise. It’s an industrial area, so there are always trucks and forklifts moving around outside. Inside, we have a few lathes and some welding equipment that we’ve used for years. The floor is stained with oil and there are metal shavings in the corners that we sweep up at the end of the shift. We wear heavy boots and old clothes because things get messy pretty fast when you're cutting steel. It’s not a place for visitors to come and sit, as there’s no real lobby or chairs. We just have a small corner with a table where we look at drawings and figure out how to make parts. Some days we are busy with big orders and other days we are just fixing a single broken tool for a neighbor. The roof is high and made of tin, so it gets really loud when it rains. We don't have any fancy signs or a big marketing budget. Most of our work comes from people in the MIDC who know we can handle a job. We just keep our heads down and focus on the machines until the work is done. It’s hard on the back, but it’s what we know how to do here in Saiyedpur.
