Jay Engineers

Jay Engineers is out on Gujarwadi Road in Katraj. It’s a bit of a climb up from the main city area of Pune. The address is 49/1/2/1, and it’s basically just a small workshop where we handle various engineering jobs. Being in the Haveli taluka, it’s a bit more open than the city center, but it’s still getting busier every year. We don’t have a lot of fancy equipment. We rely on the stuff we’ve had for a while and the experience of the guys on the floor. Most of us grew up around here, so we know the area well. The road outside can get dusty when the trucks go by. We usually leave the big doors open to let some air in, even if it brings the dust with it. It’s a lot of manual labor, grinding metal and welding parts together. We don’t spend much time in an office; most of the day is spent standing at the benches. We don’t have any grand slogans or anything like that. We just take the drawings we’re given and try to make the parts as best as we can. When we’re done for the day, we just lock up and head home. It’s a quiet life for the most part, just steady work and local people. We’re just a small part of the industrial landscape in this part of Pune.
