Swaraj Furniture Interior

We are located out in Kadamwakvasti, which is right by the toll plaza on the Pune Solapur Highway near Hadapsar. If you have ever driven that way, you have probably passed right by us. Being so close to the highway means there is always a lot of noise from the big trucks and cars rushing past, but we have gotten used to it over the years. Inside the shop at Swaraj Furniture Interior, it usually smells like fresh cut wood and polish. We spend most of our hours building tables, cupboards, and whatever else people need for their homes. Our hands are usually covered in sawdust by noon. It's a lot of manual work, moving heavy pieces of furniture around and making sure the joints fit right. We don't have a fancy showroom with bright lights. It’s more of a workshop where you can see the tools and the projects we are currently working on. Sometimes people stop in because they saw our sign while waiting in the toll queue. We just show them what we have on the floor or talk about what they want made. The afternoon sun hits the front of the shop pretty hard, so we usually keep the shutters halfway down to stay cool. It’s a simple way to make a living, just building things that people use every day in their houses. We keep at it until the evening when the highway traffic starts to get really heavy again and the lights come on at the plaza.
