We are out here in Kharabwadi, near the Gat No. 648 area in Chakan. It’s mostly industrial around us, so there is always noise from the trucks and the big factories nearby. We spend our days mostly surrounded by wood dust and the smell of glue. It’s not a quiet place to work, but we are used to it by now. The shop is a bit cramped because we have so many samples and tools lying around. You have to watch your step when you come in. We do a lot of measuring and cutting, trying to get things to fit right in people’s houses. Sometimes the material doesn't show up on time because of the traffic on the highway, which is a real pain. We usually have the radio playing in the background to drown out the sound of the machines. It’s just a few of us here, doing the work and trying to keep everything organized. We don't have a big showroom or anything, just the workshop where the actual making happens. Sometimes we go out to the sites to see how the cupboards look once they are finally installed. It’s a lot of manual labor, and our hands are usually covered in some kind of stain or sawdust by the end of the day. We’ve been in this part of Chakan for a bit and we know the other shop owners around the lane.
