We are located over on BT Kawade Road in Dhanakawadi. It’s not a very big space, but it works for what we do. Mostly, it’s just a large room with some mirrors we put up a few years back. The floor gets a lot of wear and tear because of all the dancing, so we’re always sweeping it. It’s a bit of a walk from the main bus stop, but the students don’t seem to mind much. We started this because we wanted a place nearby to practice dance without having to travel into the city center. In the evenings, you can hear the bells on the ankles from all the way down the hall. It gets quite loud when the senior batches are here. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just light some candles and keep going. We don’t have a big front desk or a receptionist. Usually, one of us just sits near the door and talks to the parents when they drop the kids off. It’s a very casual vibe. Most people who come here live in the surrounding buildings. We’ve got some old photos on the wall from our first year. The paint is peeling a little in the corner near the window, but it doesn’t stop the dancing. We just focus on the steps and making sure everyone is having a decent time. It’s our little corner of Dhanakawadi where things stay busy.
