Swar Taal Sadhana

Swar Taal Sadhana is located at number 1223 in Tagore Nagar, which is part of the Sadashiv Peth area. This is an old part of the city with lots of history and narrow lanes. Our building is a typical one for this neighborhood. We don't have a fancy entrance or a lobby. You just come up the stairs and you’ll find us. The rooms are filled with the sound of harmoniums and tablas most of the day. Sadashiv Peth is known for its culture, and we are just a small part of that. We spend a lot of time sitting on the floor and working on different rhythms. The address, Tagore Nagar 1223, is where we’ve been for quite some time now. We don't do any big promotions. The neighbors know us, and word of mouth is how most people find their way here. It’s a simple, honest setup. We have old cupboards for the instruments and some charts on the walls that have seen better days. It doesn't matter much because the focus is on the sound. We drink a lot of tea and talk about music between the sessions. It’s not a corporate environment at all. It’s just a group of people interested in taal and swar. We open the windows for a breeze, even if the street noise comes in. It’s just life in Tagore Nagar, plain and simple.
