Surya Renewables

Surya Renewables is over in the Phadatare Building, right opposite the PWD Colony. It’s part of the Sangavi Apna Ghar Co Operative Housing Society. It feels more like a neighborhood spot than a big business office. We’ve got a small space on the ground floor. It’s easy to find if you know where the colony is. We do a lot of work with solar and other energy stuff. There’s always a few solar heaters or panels leaning against the wall. It’s just a few of us running the show. We don’t have a secretary or anyone to answer the door, so if the bell rings, whoever is closest just goes to see who it is. The building itself is a bit older, but it’s sturdy. We like being in Sangavi; it’s a bit quieter than the city center. Sometimes we sit outside on the steps during our break. We don't have a lot of fancy office furniture. Most of our desks are just plain tables we’ve had for years. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a sleek look. We just focus on the gear and making sure it’s ready for the next installation. There's a lot of paperwork to keep track of, which isn't the fun part of the job, but it has to be done. We usually have the radio playing in the background while we work. It’s a comfortable place to be, and we know most of the people living in the society.
