Suraj Motor Driving School

Down in Loni Kalbhor, right in the Pune 412201 area, we run Suraj Motor Driving School. It’s a local operation, nothing too big or flashy. We spend most of our time out on the roads around Maharashtra rather than sitting in the office. The office itself is just a small room with a desk and some charts on the wall about road signs and traffic rules. We have a couple of cars that we keep as clean as we can, though the dust around here makes that a constant battle. Teaching someone to drive takes a lot of patience. You spend hours sitting in the passenger seat, watching the feet and the mirrors. Some days are long, especially when the traffic is heavy or the weather is bad. We see people from all walks of life coming in, nervous about their first time behind the wheel. We just talk them through it. It’s about getting the clutch right and not panicking when a truck goes by. Loni Kalbhor has some quiet stretches which are good for practice. We know these roads like the back of our hand. It’s a straightforward job. We show up, we get in the car, and we go. There’s no secret to it, just practice and more practice. We keep our logbooks updated and make sure the fuel tank is full for the next person.
