Suraj Dairy

Out in Dhanakawadi, in Yashwant Colony at 32/10/1, you’ll find Suraj Dairy. We’re the kind of place that starts work while most people are still sleeping. The milk arrives early, and we have to get everything ready before the sun is even up. It’s a cold, wet kind of job sometimes, especially when you’re handling crates and cleaning out the containers. Yashwant Colony is a nice enough place, mostly families who have lived here for years. They come by in the mornings with their own bags or containers. We don’t have any big neon signs or loud music playing. It’s just the sound of crates sliding and people chatting while they wait for their turn. The floor is almost always a bit damp from the cleaning, so we have to be careful not to slip during the rush. We aren't some massive dairy conglomerate with fancy trucks. We’re just a local spot where you can get your daily milk and maybe some curd. Sometimes the delivery truck is late because of a breakdown, and we have to apologize to the line of people waiting outside. It happens. We don’t try to act like we’re perfect. We just try to get the milk out every single day without fail. By the afternoon, things quiet down and we spend our time getting ready for the next morning’s rush. It’s a cycle that we’ve been in for a long time now.
