Mec Ices

Mec Ices is located at Lonavala 19, right where the weather is usually a bit cooler than the city. We have been here for a while, providing ice and cold items to the local hotels and tourists passing through. The shop has a large freezer unit that hums loudly all day and night. It’s a sound you get used to after a few days. We keep things pretty simple. There is a small counter and a few chairs outside for people to sit if they are waiting for a large order of ice blocks. During the monsoon season, things get a bit slower because of the rain, but the weekends are always packed. I usually wear a sweater even in the summer because the walk-in cooler is freezing. My hands are always a bit cold from handling the bags. We have a small delivery van that goes around the town in the mornings. Sometimes the mountain roads are blocked, and we have to take the long way around. It’s a small family operation. My wife helps with the accounts in the evenings while the kids do their homework in the back room. We don't have a fancy website or anything like that. If you need ice or something cold, you just stop by. The sign outside is a bit weathered from the wind, but you can still read the name clearly. It’s a cold job but someone has to do it.
