Our spot at Sangavi 2 is pretty easy to find if you know the neighborhood. Surabhi Music Academy has been sitting here for a bit now, tucked away where it’s mostly peaceful. We have a few rooms where we keep the instruments. It’s not a giant building, just a comfortable enough space for people to sit down and learn. Sometimes the street outside gets a bit crowded with parked scooters, especially in the evenings. We try to keep the place organized, but with so many people coming and going, there’s usually a stray music book or a tuner left on a chair somewhere. The lighting in the back room is a little dim, but it’s fine for practicing. We don't have a big reception desk or a person in a suit waiting to greet you. Usually, one of us just pokes our head out when we hear the door. We spend a lot of time tuning strings and making sure the benches are straight. It’s a local place. Most of the folks who come here live nearby in Sangavi. We know the regulars by their voices. It’s nice having a routine. On rainy days, the sound of the water on the roof mixes with whatever we are playing inside. It makes the academy feel a bit more cozy. We just keep doing what we do, one day at a time, keeping the notes going.
