Sugartex Engineers is based out in Erandwane, right on 24th Main in the Sakari Kere Area, Phase VI 3A. It’s mostly a workshop environment here. We have a lot of tools and machinery lying around, and there’s usually the sound of someone welding or grinding metal in the background. It isn't a place for suits and ties. We’re usually covered in a bit of grease by the end of the shift. We take on various engineering jobs, mostly small-scale stuff that requires a lot of manual attention. The space is a bit cluttered with half-finished projects and spare parts, but we know where everything is. We started out in a much smaller shed and moved here a few years back. The location is okay, though finding parking for big trucks can be a bit of a struggle on this street. We have a small team of technicians who have been with us for a long time. We don't spend money on fancy brochures. If someone needs something fixed or built, they usually just show up with a sketch or a broken part. We talk it through and see what can be done. It’s honest work. Some days things go wrong and we have to stay late to figure out a mechanical problem. That’s just the nature of engineering. We just focus on the task at hand and try to do a solid job without a lot of talking.
