Shreeji Plastics

Our shop, Shreeji Plastics, is right at Survey No.354 in Raviwar Peth. If you know the area, you know how busy it gets, especially being opposite the Lakshmi Narayan Market. There is always someone shouting or a horn honking outside. It's a crowded part of town, but that's where the business is. Inside, it's packed to the ceiling with plastic goods of all sorts. Sometimes it feels like the walls are closing in because we try to fit so much in one spot. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights. It's just shelves and piles. My brother and I run the place mostly, and we’ve learned to navigate the piles without tripping. The floor is concrete and has a few cracks from moving heavy stuff around over the years. We get a lot of regulars who come from the market across the street. They don't expect a red carpet; they just want to see what's available and get on with their day. Dealing with plastics means everything is light but bulky, so it takes up a lot of room. We often have to use a ladder to reach things near the roof. It’s a lot of climbing and lifting, but it keeps us moving. We don’t really have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are. If the shutters are up, we’re open for business. We don't worry too much about the noise anymore.
