Shree Satguru Dugdhalaya

I get here quite early every morning. The sun isn't even up properly yet, but the milk trucks are already arriving at our spot in Katraj Shastri Nagar 1. It’s been this way for a long time. My clothes usually end up smelling like fresh milk by ten in the morning, which I’ve just gotten used to over the years. We keep the counters clean, or at least we try to between the rush of customers who want their packets before heading to work. Shree Satguru Dugdhalaya isn't a big fancy place. It's just a small shop where the fridge is always running loud. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to worry about the curd, but mostly things run okay. People from the nearby buildings come in, sometimes just for a small pouch of milk or some paneer for their dinner. I spend a lot of time just moving crates around and checking the dates on everything. The floor gets a bit wet sometimes from the ice and the bags, so I have to keep a mop handy. It’s a simple life here in Pune. We don't have a big team or anything, just a couple of us making sure the locals get what they need for their tea and breakfast. The street outside gets busy later on, but those first few hours are the most important for us. Just basic work, day in and day out, making sure the dairy is fresh.
