Sargam Sangeet Vidyalaya

We are situated out near the Asalali Bypass Highway 45, specifically at Kothrud Shriji State. It’s a bit of a drive for some, but once you get here, it’s a dedicated place for music. You can hear the trucks passing by outside, but inside we try to keep things focused on the instruments. I’ve got sitars, tablas, and harmoniums scattered around the different rooms. It’s not a fancy academy with soundproof walls; it’s more of a traditional school where we sit on the floor. I spend my mornings tuning strings and making sure the instruments are in good shape. The students range from little kids to older adults who just want to learn a hobby. We don’t have a big sign with flashing lights, just a simple board so people can find the entrance. Some days it gets quite dusty because of the highway construction nearby. I usually keep a pot of tea going for the teachers. It’s just Sargam Sangeet Vidyalaya, a place where we teach what we know. There’s no corporate structure here, just me and a few others sharing music. The rooms are simple with a few rugs and some old photos of musicians on the walls. We’ve been here long enough that the local bus drivers know where to drop people off. It’s a practical space for anyone who actually wants to learn. Sometimes we have a small gathering on the weekend just to practice together. The parking outside is a bit gravelly, so watch your step.
