Sa Re Ga Maa Music Institute

If you walk around Viman Nagar 7, you can usually hear us before you see us. Sa Re Ga Maa Music Institute is a place where we teach singing and different instruments. It’s not a big, silent academy. It is usually pretty loud with someone practicing the harmonium in one corner and someone else trying to get their scales right in another. We started this because we love music and wanted to share that with the kids and adults around here. The rooms are small and we have instruments tucked into every available space. It can be a bit chaotic during the evening rush when all the students arrive at once. We don't have a fancy waiting room; parents usually just stand in the hallway or chat outside until the lesson is done. We try to keep the instruments in good shape, though the guitar strings snap more often than we'd like. Our instructors are just local people who know their stuff and enjoy teaching. We don't worry about being a world-class facility. We just want people to come in, learn a few notes, and feel better about their playing than they did when they walked in. It's a humble little spot, but it’s got a lot of heart. We spend our days tuning instruments and listening to people find their voice. It’s a good way to spend the time for us.
