Pushpraj Paithani Sarees

Down in Khatri Lane in Yeola, that’s where you’ll find our little setup. We’ve been working with Paithani sarees for a long time because that’s what this area is known for. Pushpraj Paithani Sarees is a small operation, really. It’s just a few of us in a space that’s seen better days, but it’s got a lot of character. The lane is narrow, so you have to be careful if you’re driving through. We spend our days checking the silk and making sure the zari work is looking right. It’s a lot of sitting and looking closely at details. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait it out, but that’s part of living in Yeola. We don’t have a big website or a marketing team. We just talk to people who come by the shop. The walls are lined with boxes, and there’s always a faint smell of incense in the air. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except when the festivals come around. Then it gets really hectic and we’re working late into the night. We like it this way, though. It feels honest. My grandfather did this kind of work, and now we’re just carrying it on in the same neighborhood. We don’t try to act like we’re some big city brand. We’re just local folks making traditional sarees for people who appreciate the old ways of doing things. It’s a simple life and we enjoy the process.
