Pune General Stores

This shop sits on Survey No 44 along Karve Road. It’s a busy part of Erandwane, specifically the Vadarvasahat area. There’s always a lot of traffic outside, so it can get noisy. We’ve been here for quite a while now. It’s a basic general store. We have rows of jars with snacks and plenty of household items. People from the nearby houses come here every day. We don’t have fancy lighting or air conditioning. It’s just a place to get your groceries and go. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the road, which is a bit of a headache. I usually handle the counter myself. My son helps out during his college breaks. We know which brand of tea most people prefer. It’s not a supermarket where you wander around with a trolley. You tell us what you need, and we reach up to the high shelves to get it. Sometimes we run out of change, so we have to ask customers to wait a minute while we check the drawer. It's a small business, and it keeps us busy from morning to night. We don't have a website or anything like that. If you need something, you just walk in. That’s how we’ve always done it here in Pune. The wooden floorboards sometimes groan when you walk on them. I’ve meant to fix that for a year now, but it’s just another thing on the list.
