Over in Dhankawadi at 23/5/1107, you can find Pranjal Electronics. It is a small shop, mostly filled with old circuit boards, tangled wires, and various tools for testing electronics. We spend most of our hours hunched over a workbench with a soldering iron in hand. It is quiet work compared to a machine shop, but it requires a lot of patience. The smell of burning solder is something you get used to after the first week. We have stacks of televisions and various gadgets waiting for parts to arrive from the city. Sometimes people bring in things that are so old we have to hunt through our scrap bins just to find a matching capacitor. The lighting inside isn't the best, so we use those movable desk lamps to see the tiny connections we are working on. It is a bit cluttered, and there is barely enough room for two people to stand at the counter at the same time. We don't have a computer system for tracking things, just a notebook where we write down names and phone numbers. Most of the folks who live nearby know us and just drop their stuff off on their way to the market. We do what we can to get things sparking again. It is a simple life of fixing what is broken, and we are usually here until the sun goes down and the streetlights come on. The neighborhood is mostly quiet, which helps us focus.
