New Satav Driving School

Our place, New Satav Driving School, is tucked away in Ramwadi, right off Nagar Road in Pune. It’s a 411006 area code, and if you’ve driven down Nagar Road, you know it’s basically a test of patience every single day. We’ve been operating out of this small spot for a good while. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re usually too busy out on the road to worry about that. My brother and I took over the running of things, and it’s been a steady stream of students since. Most people who come to us are terrified of the heavy trucks that roar down the highway, so we spend a lot of time just building up their confidence in the quieter residential patches before we even think about the main road. It’s a lot of sitting in the passenger seat, keeping an eye on the mirrors, and occasionally using the dual pedals when someone gets a bit too close to a curb. We don't have any fancy mission statements or anything like that. We just want to make sure you don't stall the engine in the middle of an intersection. The chai shop next door is where I spend most of my breaks, watching the world go by. It’s practical work, and it keeps us busy from dawn till dusk. Pune is growing so fast, so there's always someone new needing to learn how to get around properly.
