Nandkishore Kapote Dance Academy

Our academy, the Nandkishore Kapote Dance Academy, is based in Shivaji Nagar right on Rajmahal Road. The address is 1164, and it’s a spot we’ve called home for many years now. Being in Shivaji Nagar means there is always something going on outside our doors, but inside, we are all about the dance. We have a variety of people coming through here, some who want to learn seriously and others who just want a bit of exercise and hobby time. Rajmahal Road is a well-known street, so finding us isn't usually too difficult for new students. The building has a lot of character, maybe a few squeaky floorboards here and there, but that’s part of the charm of an older place. We aren't interested in being a big corporate chain of dance studios. We just want to keep this one location running well and serving the people in this part of town. Our instructors are just regular folks who happen to be very good at dancing and enjoy passing that knowledge on to others. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed, though we do expect everyone to put in the effort during the lessons. It’s a practical setup where the focus is strictly on the movement and the music. We’ve seen many generations of dancers come through these doors at 1164, and we hope to see many more as time goes on. It is a busy life, but it is rewarding to see people improve.
