Modern Dairy has been around for a long time at East Street in the Camp area, specifically on Lane No 7. The building has some history to it, and you can see that in the old walls and the way the door creaks. We have 1942 as part of our address history and it shows in the style of the place. We don't have any of those modern glass windows or bright neon signs. It is just a plain shop where we sell milk and dairy products to the people who live around here. The mornings are the busiest time because everyone wants their fresh milk before breakfast. We spend a lot of time cleaning the counters and making sure the cold storage is working right. The Camp area is a bit different from the rest of the city, it feels a bit more relaxed even though there are plenty of people around. We have some regulars who have been coming to us for decades, and now their children come here too. It is nice to see the familiar faces every day. Sometimes we sit on the stools near the entrance when it is quiet in the afternoon. The trees on the lane provide some good shade which makes it a bit cooler than the main roads. We don't do much advertising. People just know we are here on Lane 7 and they stop by when they need something.
