Big Bazaar Street is the heart of the shopping area, and 290 is where you will find us. Lavanya Jewellery is a small shop, but we have a lot of stuff packed into the display cases. My father started this place, and I’ve been here since I was a kid. The street outside is always full of people looking for deals or just walking by to get to the market. We spend a lot of time cleaning the glass because fingerprints show up so easily under the lights. It’s a lot of sitting and waiting for customers, then being very busy all at once. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. People mostly come in because they saw our sign or their family has been coming here for years. We do some repairs and small custom jobs when people ask. The back room is where we keep the tools and the safe. It’s a bit cramped, but it works for what we need. Sometimes we have tea with the shopkeeper next door when things are slow in the afternoon. Selling jewelry is mostly about listening to what people want for their weddings or gifts. It’s a nice way to spend the day, seeing people pick out something they like. We just try to keep things honest and simple. The lights stay on until late because the street is always active. We close the shutters when the last person leaves the pavement. Then we do it all over again tomorrow.
