Aqsa Bakery

Aqsa Bakery is situated at 1802 on West Street, right there where it meets Jaan Mohammed St in the Camp area. It’s a busy intersection, and there is always something going on outside the door. We’ve got the ovens going for most of the day, so it stays pretty warm inside the shop. The building is one of those classic Camp structures, and it has its own quirks like a floor that isn't quite level and doors that creak. We don't have any polished marketing or a big team, just a few of us making sure the work gets done. West Street is always full of people, and we get a lot of the cross-traffic from Jaan Mohammed St too. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting heavy bags of flour and keeping an eye on the timers. We don’t really do anything besides bake and sell what we make. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we are usually too busy to worry about that. Early in the morning, it’s just the sound of the street waking up and the smell of the first batch coming out. By the afternoon, it’s a bit more chaotic with the traffic and the noise from the road. We just keep our heads down and keep the trays moving. It’s a basic life here at 1802, and we are fine with that. We just do the work day in and day out without any fuss.
