Kumar General Stores

Our place is called Kumar General Stores and we are located in New Nana Peth in Pune. If you know where the old Nishant Theater is then you can find us pretty easily because we are right near there. Nana Peth is a busy commercial area and there is always something going on outside our shop. We have all kinds of things crammed into this small space from laundry soap to bags of rice. The theater nearby brings in different crowds depending on what is playing but most of our customers are just people who live in the local apartment buildings. I spend a lot of my afternoon sitting under the fan trying to stay cool while I check the labels on the jars. The floor is made of old stone and it stays relatively cool even when the Pune sun is beating down on the street outside. I don't have a big staff it is mostly just me and sometimes a helper to move the crates of cold drinks. We don't really go for anything flashy in terms of signs or displays we just put the goods where there is space. It can get a bit overwhelming when three people want different things at once and the phone is ringing but we handle it. Life in Nana Peth is fast but inside the shop we just take things one bag of flour at a time and try to keep everyone happy.
