Ketan Provision Stores

Ketan Provision Stores is located at 56/2 in Vadgaon Sheri. It is a typical local grocery shop where we sell all the daily essentials. We have big sacks of rice and wheat flour sitting on the floor most days. The shelves are packed with everything from soap and tea to biscuits and spices. It’s a small space, so things are a bit cluttered and you have to squeeze past the bags to get to the back. We open up very early in the morning because that’s when people come looking for milk and bread before they go to work. There is usually a bit of a rush around 8 AM. My father started this place and I’ve been helping out since I was a kid. We know almost everyone in this part of Vadgaon Sheri by their first name and what they usually buy. We don't have those fancy barcode scanners you see in supermarkets. We just know the prices or look at the labels. Sometimes the kids from the nearby houses come in just to buy a single piece of chocolate or some chips after school. We spend a lot of time cleaning the dust off the jars and restocking the shelves when it’s quiet. The ceiling fan makes a bit of a clicking noise but it keeps the air moving during the hot afternoons. We don't have a website or any social media pages. People just know where we are. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living. We stay open until about nine.
