If you walk around Koregaon Park, you might hear the music coming from our windows. We’ve been teaching dance here for some time, and it’s always a mix of people showing up. Some are really good and some have two left feet, but it doesn’t really matter once the song starts. The studio floor gets quite a bit of wear and tear from all the shoes and bare feet moving around every day. We spend a lot of time just picking the right tracks and trying to show people how to move their arms or feet without getting frustrated. Koregaon Park is a lively area anyway, so we fit right in with the energy. Sometimes we have classes running late into the evening and you can see the lights from the street. It’s not a huge fancy ballroom, just a practical space where people come to sweat and learn a few routines. We don’t do much talk, mostly just counting beats and repeating the same steps until everyone gets it. It gets quite hot in the summer, but nobody seems to mind once they get into the rhythm. We’ve seen a lot of students come through these doors, some stay for years and others just want to learn one specific dance for a wedding or something. It’s just a place to move and forget about work for an hour or so. We like being part of this neighborhood. We don't have fancy uniforms or big stages.
