Hotel Sairaj

We are situated on Jothi Nivas College Road 1 in the Shivaji Nagar area. Being so close to the college means we see a lot of young people every day. It’s a busy street and there is always someone walking by. The hotel is just a simple place to get a meal. We have a few rows of tables and chairs that have been here for years. They aren't fancy, but they do the job. My uncle is usually at the front counter taking the money and I spend most of my time making sure the food is coming out of the kitchen on time. It gets very hot in there, especially during the lunch hour when the stove is going non-stop. We have a set menu of things we make every day, mostly stuff that the students can afford and like to eat. Shivaji Nagar is a hectic place to work, but you get used to the pace of it. Sometimes we run out of certain dishes by two o'clock because the crowd was bigger than we expected. We don't really do much advertising; people just know we are here. It’s a basic, local business and we try to keep the floors swept and the water jugs full for whoever comes in. We don't have much to say about ourselves, we just do the same things every day to keep the place running.
