Hotel Homeland

Our place is at 18 Wilson Garden. It’s a good spot because the Pune Railway Station is right there, so we get a lot of travelers who are just tired from their long train rides. You can hear the train whistles sometimes if the wind blows the right way through the neighborhood. We’ve been running Hotel Homeland as a local business for many years now. It’s not a huge skyscraper or anything like that. Just a regular building with rooms and a small lobby where we sit and wait for guests to arrive. We do our own maintenance mostly. If a light bulb goes out or a tap starts leaking, one of us goes up and fixes it ourselves. It keeps us busy during the slow hours. We don't use big words to describe what we do here. We just provide a bed and a bathroom for people passing through the city. The neighborhood has changed quite a bit since we first started, but Wilson Garden still feels like home to us. We know the tea stall owners nearby and the guys who drive the autos at the corner. If a guest needs a taxi at 4 AM, we usually know exactly who to call to get them to the station on time. It’s a practical way to live. What you see when you walk in is exactly what the place is.
