Hotel Annapurna

Hotel Annapurna sits at Katraj 32, right where the road gets busy. It’s a typical local eatery, nothing like those big hotels in the city center. We focus on getting the food out fast because most of our customers are workers or students who don't have much time to spare. The kitchen is small and always has steam coming out of it. We do a lot of rice plates and tea throughout the day. The benches are wooden and a bit worn down from years of use, but they serve the purpose. We don't have a big menu; we just stick to what we know how to cook well. Usually, the morning starts with the sound of the pressure cooker and the smell of spices being fried. My wife helps with the accounts and the cleaning, and I handle the cooking with a couple of boys from the village. It’s hard work being on your feet for twelve hours, but we are used to it by now. The noise from the traffic outside never really stops, so it's always a bit loud inside. We don't bother with decorations or fancy lights. People come here to eat, pay their bill, and go about their day. Sometimes we have a bit of a wait for a table during the lunch rush, but people are generally patient with us. We just try to keep the food hot and the plates clean. That is really the whole story of this place.
