Gujar Mastani House

If you head down Cunningham Road in the Market Yard area, you’ll find us. We’ve been running Gujar Mastani House for quite some time. It’s a simple shop, mostly dedicated to making mastani and some other cold treats. The area around Market Yard is always chaotic with trucks and vendors, so our place is a bit of a spot for people to sit for a minute and cool off. We don't have much in the way of decor. Just some benches and the cooling units where we keep everything chilled. The machines make a lot of humming noise, which you get used to after an hour or so. We make the mixtures ourselves every morning. Sometimes the fruit isn't as sweet as we’d like depending on the season, but we work with what the market gives us. The floor needs a lot of mopping because of the spills, and during the monsoon, it gets a bit muddy with people coming in from the street. We aren’t trying to be a fancy cafe. We just want to serve people who are tired from shopping or working in the market. It’s a family-run business, so you’ll usually see one of us behind the counter. We don't use any fancy marketing tricks. People just know we are here on Cunningham Road. It’s a lot of manual work, but we are used to the routine of it now.
