Dinshaw Ice Cream Parlor

We set up this little parlor on Tadiwala Road in Bhosarigoan because it’s a spot we know well. It’s a busy road and there’s always something going on outside the door. Most of the day is spent checking the stock and wiping down the counters. It gets dusty with all the vehicles passing by so we have to clean a lot. It’s a family thing, mostly. My cousin handles the afternoon shift and I take over in the evenings. We get a lot of regulars from the neighborhood who stop by after dinner. The lighting inside is a bit bright but it helps people see the menu. We have the standard Dinshaw tubs and cones. Sometimes the freezer handle sticks a bit so you have to pull hard. We don’t really do anything fancy here. It’s just an ice cream shop. On rainy days it gets quiet and we just sit and watch the rain on the street. People in Bhosarigoan are mostly working class and they just want something cold at the end of the day. We try to keep the place organized but it’s hard when it’s just the two of us. We’ve been here for a bit now and we know most of the people who walk past. It’s a decent way to spend the day. Nothing fancy, just work. We usually keep some extra napkins on the counter because the kids always make a mess with the chocolate cones. It's just a normal part of the day for us here.
