Deval Utensils Factory

If you walk down Karve Road near the Ranka Jewellers, you will probably hear us before you see us. Being a utensil factory, things get pretty noisy. We are at 15/5, and the building has seen better days, but it holds up well for what we do. Making pots and pans and other kitchen stuff is heavy work. There is always the sound of metal hitting metal and the hum of the polishing wheels. Deval Utensils Factory has been a part of this neighborhood for a long time. The air inside gets warm, especially in the summer months, so we keep the big doors open as much as we can. It’s not a fancy place with air conditioning or soft chairs. We have wooden benches and concrete floors that are stained from years of use. Most of the guys working here have been with us for years and know the machines by heart. We don’t spend much time on fancy labels or decorations. We just focus on getting the shapes right and making sure the handles are on tight. Sometimes a customer drops by because they saw the sign while heading to the jewelers next door. We show them what’s on the racks and they pick what they need for their kitchen. It’s a simple way to make a living, and it keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down.
