Deepak Engineers

If you go down to Shukrawar Peth and look for Shinde Lane, you’ll find us at 336/B. Deepak Engineers has been tucked away in this part of the city for a long time. The street is narrow and always busy with people and scooters, which makes getting materials in and out a bit of a challenge sometimes. Inside, it’s mostly the sound of machines and the smell of cutting oil. It’s an old building, so the walls have that weathered look you only get with age. We do a lot of small-scale engineering work, mostly things people bring in because they can’t find a part anywhere else. The workbench is cluttered with tools that have been used so much the handles are smooth. My grandfather had this place first, and not much has changed in terms of how we handle the day-to-day stuff. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who know how to run the lathes and handle the measurements. The lighting isn't the best in the back, so we use handheld lamps to see the fine details. Shukrawar Peth is a loud neighborhood, but once you’re inside the shop, you sort of tune it out. We don’t have a website or anything like that. Most of our work comes from people walking in from Shinde Lane or old contacts who have been coming here since the eighties. We just keep our heads down and finish the jobs.
