Bhagyoday Engineering Works

At Chikhlee 179/769, things are usually quite noisy because of the machines. Bhagyoday Engineering Works has been operating from this workshop for a while now. Most days are spent working with metal, cutting and welding whatever is needed. There is always a smell of oil and burnt iron in the air here. It’s a small space, and it gets quite hot in the afternoons, especially when the lathe machines are running full speed. We don't have any fancy signs out front, just the work we do. My hands are usually covered in grease by noon. People bring us parts that need fixing or ask us to make something specific from scratch. We don’t follow a very strict schedule; we just work until the job is done. Sometimes we stay late when there’s a big order to finish. The floor is covered in metal shavings and we have to sweep them up every evening before locking up. It’s hard work and it's not very clean, but it’s what we know. My brother and I manage most of the things ourselves. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that. If the phone rings, we just wipe our hands on a rag and answer it. It’s a practical place for people who need things built or repaired. We just keep our heads down and get the tasks finished day by day. It’s how we make our living.
