Baliram Vegetable

You can find Baliram Vegetable over at the Juni Bhaji Mandai in the Vadgaon Sheri area, not too far from Viman Nagar. I’ve been sitting in this same spot for years, surrounded by sacks of potatoes and crates of onions. It’s a busy market, especially in the evenings when everyone is heading home from work. The noise from the street is constant, but you get used to it after a while. I don't have a big staff or a fancy store; it’s mostly just me and occasionally my son when he isn't busy with his own things. We try to get the freshest stuff from the bigger market, but sometimes the weather makes it difficult. If it rains, the whole place gets a bit muddy, but we just put up some plastic sheets and keep going. Selling vegetables isn't a way to get rich, but it’s a decent way to live. I like talking to the customers, hearing about their kids or their jobs while I weigh out their tomatoes. Sometimes we run out of things earlier than expected, and people get a bit annoyed, but that’s just how it goes. I don't use any fancy apps or anything, just a simple scale and a ledger for those who pay at the end of the month. It’s a basic life, and I’m quite content with it. I'll probably be here until my legs give out.
