Balaji Dairy

Balaji Dairy is tucked away in Bhawani Peth, specifically at the 17th Cross on 25th Main, Phase V. Our address is a bit long but once you find Survey No 378, you’re right there. We deal with milk, curd, and all the usual dairy stuff every single day of the week. The work starts very early, usually around four or five in the morning when the cans arrive from the outskirts. It’s always a bit cold in the shop because of the big refrigerators, but that’s necessary to keep things fresh. We spend a lot of time pouring milk and weighing out packets for the regulars who come by every morning. There’s always a bit of water on the floor from the ice melting or the cleaning we do to keep it tidy. We don’t have a big fancy storefront. It’s just a counter, some crates, and the smell of fresh dairy. People from the nearby buildings come in with their own steel containers sometimes, which we prefer. We chat about the weather or the local news while we serve them. It gets really busy during festival times when everyone wants extra milk for making sweets. We have to keep a very close eye on the dates and make sure nothing goes sour. It’s a lot of responsibility keeping food fresh for the neighborhood families.
