Athawale Dairy Products

We’ve been here at Shaniwar Peth on Tilak Road for a long time now. The day starts really early for us, way before most people are even awake. Our spot at New 568 is where all the milk cans arrive every morning from the local collectors. It gets quite busy and a bit loud with the trucks pulling in and people unloading. We handle milk, dahi, and paneer mainly. It involves a lot of heavy lifting and cleaning all the time. The shop floor is usually wet because we are constantly washing things down to keep everything okay. There isn’t much time for sitting around. My father used to do this work before me, and now I handle the daily routine with a couple of helpers. We see the same faces every morning, mostly people from the neighborhood coming in for their daily supply. Sometimes the milk is a bit late if there is traffic or heavy rain on the roads, and we just have to wait it out. It’s not fancy work, just everyday stuff. We deal with farmers and local suppliers mostly. The fridge hums all day long, and the smell of fresh curd is always in the air. It’s a simple life here in Pune. We don’t have a big office, just the counter and the cold storage area in the back. That’s how it has always been for us at Athawale Dairy Products. We just try to get through the orders and make sure the crates are ready for the next day.
