Atharva Tabla Classes

We are located right in the middle of Kasba Peth at Pratibha Height on the Main Road. It’s on the fourth floor, specifically Flat No 11. Being near Shaniwar Vada means we are in the most historic part of Pune. You can almost feel the history when you walk through these streets. Since we are on the 4th floor, the climb can be a bit much if the lift is busy, but the view of the old city rooftops is worth it. Inside Atharva Tabla Classes, the main thing you’ll notice is the sound. It’s a tabla class, after all. There are drums sitting everywhere on the floor. We don't have chairs for everyone; most of the time we just sit on the mats on the ground. It’s a very informal and relaxed place. It’s not a polished music academy with soundproof rooms. You can hear the tabla beats echoing out into the hallway. The windows are usually open to let the air in, and you can hear the traffic from the road below. We don’t have a big marketing budget or fancy brochures. People usually hear the music and come up to check it out. It’s a simple flat turned into a learning space. Some of the tabla sets are quite old and have a lot of stories behind them. We just spend our hours practicing and teaching the rhythms. It’s a very honest, noisy, and happy little spot in the city.
